MarRI-UK. A collaborative innovation vehicle for UK industry and academia to jointly tackle innovation and technology challenges. We will focus on research and innovation within mid TRL (3 – 7) levels to address the opportunities between “discovery and research” and “commercialisation” of Maritime Technologies and Systems.

Current Projects

1. Application of smart technologies and communications networks to enable the tracking of goods, spares and similar materiel both through and within national borders across the supply chain, to include security, traceability, condition monitoring, etc.;

2. Automated mooring/unmooring, berthing/unberthing and ship services connections (e.g. for recharging batteries, etc);

3. Port scheduling and navigation services for autonomous / lightly crewed vessels to include potential solutions for water space management such as traffic segregation;

4. Integrated Port Operation Centres to include people elements, pilotage of autonomous / remotely controlled vessels linked potentially to smart city infrastructure;

5. Distribution and supply through Smart Maritime Land Operations of zero emission power generation systems, including ships alongside;

6. Preparing Smart Maritime Land Operations for alternative fuelled vessels including aspects such as safety management of operations, bunkering, de-bunkering, local production (e.g. of Hydrogen / Ammonia).
